But Not A Drop To Drink
Run by a family living near the banks of the Smelly-wear, the Mars-Ville Ferry is a pedal-powered boat large enough to carry eight passengers. Crewed by four, the ferry has two mounted heavy guns for defense against the aggressive flora and fauna of the river, as well as against any would-be ne’er-do-wells.
Curiously, the ferry will take anyone to the east bank of the river for free. The trip in the opposite direction, from the ruined city to Mars-ville, goes for a premium. The family claims that this tradition goes back several generations, and that, despite the free easterly trip, they make enough of a profit in bartered items to keep in operation.
